Support for pregnancy and life after baby

Support doesn't have to stop at your six-week check. Pregnancy and the first years of parenthood change your sleep, your routine, your relationships and your sense of who you are. It is normal to find it hard, and you don't have to wait until things feel unmanageable to ask for help.

Chéile Wellbeing provides personalised Perinatal Mental Health Occupational Therapy to support you to manage the practical challenges of motherhood, from sleep and daily routines to balancing your baby’s needs with your own. Using evidence-based strategies tailored to you, we focus on practical, sustainable ways to make everyday life feel more manageable and help you find a greater sense of balance and confidence in motherhood.

Mental Health Occupational Therapy isn’t about adding more to your plate or striving for perfection; it’s about finding practical, compassionate ways to make everyday life feel more manageable for you.

It's about the everyday things that make up your life

In Occupational Therapy, ‘occupation’ refers to the everyday activities that give your life meaning and shape your sense of self, from caring for yourself and your family to work, rest, and the things you enjoy.

When your mental health is affected, these everyday activities can become more difficult to manage. Occupational Therapy helps you understand how the way you’re feeling impacts daily life, and works with you to find practical, realistic strategies to build supportive routines, ease overwhelm, and help you feel more like yourself again.

Things people often ask

Do I need a referral or a diagnosis?

No. You can self-refer, and you don't need a diagnosis to access support. We meet you where you are.

How is OT different to Psychological Therapy or Counselling?

Psychological therapy and counselling often focus on understanding thoughts, emotions and experiences. Mental Health Occupational Therapy focuses on how your mental health affects everyday life and the activities that matter to you. OT provides practical, personalised strategies to help you manage daily routines, care for yourself, and find a more sustainable lifestyle balance.

Can I have sessions online?

Yes. Sessions are available online, allowing you to access support from the comfort of your own home. This offers greater flexibility and convenience, making it easier to fit sessions around your routine and the demands of everyday life.

Is it too late if my baby is older?

Not at all. Motherhood can bring challenges at any stage, not just in the early weeks and months after birth. Chéile Wellbeing offers personalised maternal wellbeing support throughout pregnancy and motherhood, meeting you where you are in your journey, whatever stage that may be.

What happens in the first session?

We talk about what's going on for you, your daily routine and what you'd like to feel different. There's no pressure to share more than you want to. Together, we’ll identify what's a priority for you, and start to develop practical, manageable steps that feel right for you and fit into your everyday life.

Take the first step, together
